Heartbreaking Update on UPS Crash: Fatalities Increases to 13

The total count of victims from the freight aircraft that ignited and crashed has climbed to 13, as confirmed by recent statements.

Official's Statement

“On my way to the Union’s memorial service, I received word of a thirteenth victim that died as a outcome of the aircraft accident,” stated the local official in a public communication. “My prayers is with the families, associates and colleagues of all who were killed in this recent calamity. We will endure this as one.”

Casualties Named

An announcement from UPS named the flight crew aboard the McDonnell Douglas MD-11 as Pilot Richard Wartenberg, Co-pilot Lee Truitt, and International Relief Officer Dana Diamond.

“Our sympathies are extended to each UPSer who has been affected and all in our community community – assisting you and ensuring you get the attention and assistance you need is our main concern,” the company’s statement expressed.

Inquiry Updates

Government investigators revealed that the freight aircraft’s wing caught fire and an engine fell off shortly after liftoff from the airfield, leading to the jet to fall and explode into a inferno.

The National Transportation Safety Board has said it is probing the plane’s upkeep logs, that was in Texas for maintenance several weeks ahead of the incident.

Aircraft data revealed the plane was on the ground in that location from 3 September to last week.

“We are knowledgeable that this plane was present in San Antonio,” said an official on the following day, without providing a precise period. “We will look at all elements of service that was performed, including the repair visit, right up to the time of the trip.”

Retrieval of Vital Components

The pilot’s recorder and flight data recorder were retrieved, and the motor was found on the tarmac.

The recorders – referred to as flight recorders – were designed to survive collision damage and intense fire from infernos, and they appeared to be intact when located within the crash debris. Investigators plan on examining data from the black boxes.

The plane’s last flight details showed an altitude of 475 ft and a velocity of 210 miles per hour before the impact.

Service History

Per Federal Aviation Administration files dated that date, a fracture on a component in the tank area demanded fixes.

Singapore-based ST Engineering, which stated it offers airframe maintenance for UPS’s aircraft and manages a repair facility in Texas, declined to comment, but stated it would cooperate fully when relevant authorities approached it.

Activities Continue

In the meantime, UPS Worldport services continued last night with its overnight also known as night sort procedure, official a representative said. Each of the three tarmacs at the aviation hub were additionally reopened.

The UPS package handling facility in this location is the company’s biggest. The hub employs more than 20,000 people in the region, processes 300 flights each day and processes over a huge volume of items each hour.

Local Reaction

A gathering was organized on the late afternoon of that date by the local worker’s group, which represents employees at the Louisville airport, the company’s biggest air cargo hub.

Worker representatives, which supports staff, began the vigil with a quiet tribute at 5.14pm, the rough hour of the accident previously.

“This incident was so abrupt, so unexpected,” the leader told the crowd of 200. “No one had a chance to part to any of those who we have mourned.”
